Wow.  Five weeks in already.

Yesterday (Thursday) the kitchen floor was completed and, after a trip to fetch some bricks, a small start was made to some of the above-ground brickwork.

Today, it rained for long enough to ensure that nothing more got done and everyone has now gone off for a long weekend, so work won’t start again until Wednesday.  The new kitchen floor makes a very nice paddling pool.

On Thursday the first work inside the house should be starting, when a steel beam is due to be inserted over the kitchen window and door, allowing the pillar between to be removed.  In theory this will only cause a temporary disruption and we should get the kitchen back by the next day.
