Here’s a funny thing …

by Liz & Matt Coates Jul.06.2006 12:58:34 am

Just recently the tarmac pavement outside our house has been suffering quite badly from all of the heavy vehicles that have been passing over it.  On Tuesday we had a note through the door to say that someone would be coming to resurface the pavement around the whole of the close and would we please keep traffic off it during the day.  “Oh well” we thought, “shame they didn’t wait until all our work was completed, but maybe the worst is over now and the traffic won’t be quite so heavy from now on”.  We got back from work today to discover that they had done the rest of the road but had carefully left the space in front of our house untouched.  They obviously concluded that there was no point bothering.

The walls continue to grow and the second platform has now appeared on the scaffolding at both the side and rear of the house.  Apparently the steel for the roof is arriving tomorrow and we have been asked to clear everything from the landing, which sounds ominous.  We managed to fill five boxes with the contents of the bookshelf that was there.  Emma has been told that she will need to vacate her bedroom sometime next week so that they can remove the roof above it.  I think this is where things starts to get complicated.

Another new slideshow added.
