Liz & Matt’s Home Extension Blog

It’s 12:50 am and I’ve just finished another weekend’s tiling.  Liz was away visiting Martha in London all weekend, so it was just me and the girls at home.  We’ve been without a shower since the old bathroom was removed, so progress was hampered a little by having to stop at regular intervals for someone to take a bath.  Another Monday evening of grouting beckons.

I took the day off on Friday to do the school run and spent most of the rest of the day making phone calls.  I also took a trip in to Peterborough and spent a rather large amount of money on some kitchen appliances and 300 natural slate floor tiles (half price job lot), all of which should be delivered in about a month, by which time it is predicted that the kitchen will be completed and ready to receive them.

On Thursday and Friday the rest of the dry lining upstairs was completed, as well as the new door frames.  The upstairs rooms are now more or less complete except for the final plaster skim.  After this we need to get as much of the decorating done as we can before the radiators go in.

We also had a brief visit from a plumber on Friday but still no sign of the roofer.

Had a good news/bad news call from Freeola on Thursday to say that BT had “found the fault” that has been keeping us off broadband for the last 3 and a half weeks.  Unfortunately, they can’t come out to fix it until the 25th of October.
