… and the end of our building year.

On Monday, the plumber came and connected through all of the gas pipes, but stopped short of actually connecting up the cooker, promising to come back later in the week.  He finally appeared again on Friday afternoon to finish the job (after a reminder phone call), so we do at least have the lovely new gas cooker working.  The old electric cooker is now taking up the space the new one was formerly occupying but, as it is smaller and has less polystyrene packaging around it, we consider this to be a step in the right direction.



We all finished school/work on Tuesday, so we had high hopes about doing lots of decorating done before Christmas.  As it turned out, we were all too tired to do much on Wednesday so not much got done.  We also got distracted by a very small hedgehog that appeared in the back garden, nosing around some scraps that had fallen off the bird table.  According to the St Tiggywinkles website, any hedgehog found out during the day is in trouble and, if it is under 600g at this time of year, it will not be able to survive hibernation.  This one is less than 250g (probably a very late birth due to the long Summer) so we have taken it in and ‘Fuzzypeg’ will be with us until April, when he/she (haven’t investigated) can be released.



On Thursday Liz and Emma took another trip to Ikea (I’m still too traumatised from last time) to pick up some more chairs and a few other odds and ends, while the rest of us went Christmas shopping in Peterborough.  Friday was mostly taken up with pre-Christmas errands, so in the end I only managed to get about one third of the shower grouted.

Thanks for reading and we hope you’ve enjoyed the entertainment over the last 8 months.  Still to come in 2007 we have the rainwater storage tank, loft insulation, patio, new boiler and hot water tank, more radiators and lots more decorating, so don’t forget to tune in again next year.
